With a credit card balance transfer can you transfer anytime or only when you first get the credit card?
- Example: Chase will send you 'checks' which you can use to pay off other credit cards if you wish, about 5 times a year. Other credit card companies do the same usually it's around September, Christmas, summer months - high spending times. But please please please read the fine print. there is always a fee charge for a transfer and it can be pretty high and ergo not worth transferring. I made this mistake and ended up paying more than saving more and I am pretty ' ' about reading the fine print
- You can transfer a balance from one card to another whenever you want. Some cards only offer low rates i. e. 0% with initial transfers, but you can still transfer a balance to that card whenever you wish - you just may not get the "best" rate
- You must wait for the offer. And realize that 0% for transfers now includes a 3% charge usually with a cap on the money transferred. Credit cards, lending, banks - always check the fees
- Depends on the card. Call your credit card company
- If you are transfering your existing balance in the card to another bank / credit card account, yes, you can transfer anytime. But are you getting a lower interest on the other card? If not, call up the card issuer and say you want to do a transfer and see the rate they are offering. Always remember, banks and card companies are after everyone's business, they are open to negotiation. But you must try and always maintain good clean credit record to get the best rates
- Oh they will transfer at any time, but you may not get the same rate that was offered with the new card
- Anytime is good. Now is even better !
